Communication in District 25

The Board of Education and staff of District 25 believe that understanding what is happening in the education of our children is very important. We use a variety of methods of communication - in addition to this Web site - to share information with parents and non-parent residents of the District seeking information about the District. Some of the ways District 25 communicates are explained below.

We recognize that the key to understanding is two-way communication. We want to hear from you, too. Feel free to contact us with any questions or concerns. The directory link at the right includes mailing addresses, telephone numbers, fax numbers, and e-mail addresses of District 25 schools and Central Office departments. This information can also be found at the Contact Us link at the top of this and other district web pages.

If you have a question of a general nature or if you are not sure whom to contact, e-mail Website@sd25.org and your inquiry will be directed to the appropriate personnel.

Board of Education Meetings

The District 25 Board of Education meets at least once per month in the evening. You are welcome to attend Board meetings. For more information and a schedule of Board meetings, click here: Board of Education.

Community Connections

District 25 publishes a District newsletter, COMMUNITY CONNECTIONS, four times per year. This newsletter is mailed to all residences in the District and includes information of interest to the entire community - non-parents as well as parents.

Voice Mail

District 25 has a voice mail system. All staff members have voice mailboxes. You may leave a message at any time, day or night. Call 847-506-6999 and follow the instructions. The system includes a directory of users.

Middle School Homework Hotline

South and Thomas Middle School students and parents can get homework assignments through the District voice mail system. Middle school teachers will explain to students how to access the homework hotline.

Cable Television

District 25 has a public access channel on both Comcast (Arlington Heights cable Channel 15) and WideOpenWest (Arlington Heights cable Channel 17). Announcements and information about school and District events are included and video presentations on a variety of topics are also shown.

These are Arlington Heights public access channels; they are not available to the areas of District 25 that are outside Arlington Heights, however selected clips are occasionally available for viewing online: AHSD25 Cable.

Information Packets

Each District 25 school sends information home with students regularly. Most of our schools post information online each Friday in a "Friday packet." Some schools send information daily or as it becomes available.

Parent Handbook

Each family receives a Parent Handbook at the beginning of the school year. This handbook includes information about the policies and practices of District 25. Some schools also publish a school handbook. Please read these handbooks when you receive them and keep them as references.

PTA

Each District 25 school has a PTA (Parent Teacher Association), which works to foster close relations between home and school. You are welcome to attend PTA meetings and participate in activities. Each PTA publishes a school newsletter, which all families receive in Friday packets. The PTA also publishes school calendars, which are sent to member families.

Open Houses and Conferences

Each District 25 school hosts open houses and parent/teacher conferences during the school year. These offer parents/guardians a chance to meet and talk with teachers and other staff members. The dates for these events are on the school calendar. Families will receive more information before each event.

Open Door

On most Tuesdays the Superintendent hosts Open Door meetings at the district Central Office, 1200 S. Dunton, from 3-5pm. Check the event calendar to verify Open Door dates. Please call 847-758-4870 to make an appointment.

E-mail

Most District 25 staff members use e-mail. E-mail addresses for principals and some Central Office staff are included in this directory. Additional e-mail addresses for Central Office staff can be found on the District department pages.
