Homework Information

Homework is an enrichment and an extension of the learning that has taken place each day in school. Homework teaches responsibility and can enrich and broaden a child's knowledge.

It is important to clearly communicate our expectations in order to form a partnership between home and school. Your encouragement, support, and supervision are key factors in your child's success. Parents play a vital role in the homework process. Parents can help by providing:

• a regular place to do homework
• a regular time to do homework
• parental encouragement and support

Parental support encompasses:

• showing interest in your child's work
• encouraging and offering advice but insisting that the work is his/her own
• providing a suitable place for study, free from distraction
• checking to see that homework assignments are completed
• reminding your children that it is their responsibility to make up missed homework
• assisting in balancing school work with other activities
