ART-iculation Movie Review:
Fabulous! Absolutely fabulous. May I show it to
others? Congratulations to you and your students.
Dr. Jason Ohler, Keynote Speaker, Author, Educator,
and Art/Technology Advocate

Tricia, I just wanted to compliment you on your amazing website.
 I love all the
video animations for teaching children art!  If you don't mind my
asking, what software program did you use to create them?  I think it
is a great idea and I would love to try some of my own.
Thank You for inspiring me!
Theresa, Art Teacher, Hinsdale, Illinois

Hi, I am admiring your students' artwork. I love the Magritte
lesson
, what a great idea! I noticed that in all of your childrens'
paintings they have a thick black outline and they all paint so smooth and
neat. I do not see any paint dripped or out of the lines. I am wondering
if you have any tips that I can use to get my young students to be able
to paint with such great
craftmanship.
I am just really amazed:)
From an Artsonia Art Teacher

I "shop" Artsonia for ideas.  When I came across your student's work, I knew I'd found GOLD:  Their teacher is above and beyond the ordinary.  She REALLY REALLY is an artist.  That's not that easy to find.  You are so kind to share the how-to's.  We will be "copying Ms. Fuglestad" a lot! Ever thought of making your own videos and selling them for art educators?  I've found that many out there on the market are too advanced for K-5 or are pretty "musty" -- outdated.
Beth, art teacher from Louisiana

I am a first year teacher and I am SO
inspired by your
student's work.
I hope to one day have an art program like yours!
Carrie, art teacher from Wisconsin

Wow! I love your projects and I love your website! Fantastic! I am particularly interested in the Keith Haring project.
I added your
Fugle Flicks and Fugle songs to my Fun and Games portion of my classroom website.
Kathryn, art teacher from Florida

You are an amazing teacher. Somehow I found your website one day and I'm so glad I did. I showed my students some of your
movies and they love them! They beg for them. "Please can we watch sloppy brush" It inspired me to make some of my own.
Though I doubt they'll be as good as yours. Thank you so much for these adorable and educational mini movies and
songs.
You're an inspiration! It looks like you truly enjoy teaching.
Marcie, Art Teacher from Clearwater, Florida

I watched and listened to most of the movies on
your website and loved sloppy brush! I was laughing through most of it but I really loved it. I especially liked how the kids did it all.
-Art Teacher from Ohio

Great
site. Very inspirational to a fellow art teacher!!
Sue from Texas

Tricia, I would love to compliment you on the outstanding art teaching you have done! Your
projects are incredible! I can see that your students love and appreciate your enthusiasm and talent for art (they have it also)! You are an incredible art teacher!
Deb, art teacher from Jenison, Michigan

Hello! I love your
art projects. I teach k-4 art in Novi, Michigan and have done so for 12 years... I would like to try some of your ideas. I am wondering how you do some things. I'm amazed that the little ones filled in ALL of the white spaces. I see such a nice black lines on top/around paintings. How do you get the kids to do that? Are the snowmen pastel drawings chalk or oil pastel? They look great!
Also, does a parent take all your pictures for you? I assume it's very time consuming. Thanks so much!
Emily, art teacher from Michigan

Love the
fugleflicks! I am another Artsonia user.
We are in Ohio. We are #3 in our State and 36 in the nation.
Not near as good as you guys but we are working on it.
I was wondering how you create your movies and if you Use a Mac?
Eileen, St. Richard Elementary, North Olmsted, Ohio.

Hi Mrs. Fuglestad! I just checked out
your site, movies and student work! Wow! I want to be a member of your fan club! Its great to see an art teacher using technology and having fun too (oh and the learning- thats always good). I'm just getting into tech. in the artroom- now I know it can be done (and still be fun). Thanks for a visual aid that I can show the tech guys at my school. Artfully yours,
Ali , art teacher from New York

Hi Tricia, I live in sarasota, fl and did a google search on magic carpets. That is going to be the theme of my first grade classroom next year. i happened upon your
flying carpet art and just loved it. I've checked out all your work. It's all fabulous. If you wouldn't mind sharing your lesson plan and how you did the magic carpets, I'd be so grateful.
Thanks and kudos to you.
Nancy, Sarasota, Fl.

Your style is wonderful and i can see you're passing it on to your students. I would like to use your
Frank Lloyd Wright stained glass lesson. would you mind telling me about the supplies you used and if you used anything to keep the colors from coming off the plastic?
Thank so much.
Sandee, Art Teacher, San Francisco Bay area

Dear Mrs. Fuglestad,
Your artwork is beautiful!! I love the faces! Keep up the fantastic, creative work you do with the Dryden kids.

Dear Tricia-- You never cease to amaze me with what you can elicit from our students!
Artsonia is cool! Thanks for setting this up.

Thanks!-
Robin, art teacher from Taylor, Texas

I search
this site quite often looking for ideas. Your site is one of my favorites!!! Thank you so very much!
Aimee, art teacher, Cumming Georgia

I just joined
Artsonia. I am a high school art teacher of 16 yrs. We just moved to Hawaii and I took a job teaching K-9. I am inspired by what you are doing with the younger children. I am having so much fun planning my new curriculum. Thanks for posting your lessons.
I am planning on adapting a few of them already.
Maybe we could do an exhibit exchange focusing on culture, landscape or environment sometime.
Diane, art teacher from Hawaii

What an inspiration! I happened upon your
website from Artsonia and was amazed and dazzled by your efforts you have put forth. I would love to find out what software you used for your movies or flicks. Elementary art problems seem to be universal. I am waiting eagerly for a flick involving the care of paintbrushes. We do a little skit involving Doctor and nurse with injured paintbrushes. Wish I had your talents for creating them. My students have loved watching them. I also am interested in your "Where the Wild Things Are" lesson. Trying to figure out which media you used. Would love to here from you. My fellow art teachers think it is Fuglelistic. Thanks for the inspiration.
Kelly, San Antonio, Texas Art Educator

Tricia, Your
kids' artwork is impressive and your website is so delightful!! Thanks for the inspiration! I first found your school when you posted Corduroy last year. I started that project again today so made a quick visit to your bears. Can I borrow your Wild Things idea and video too? Very impressive for first grade! How often do you see each class? More than my 45 minutes a week, I reckon! Keep up the great work!
Sandy, Needham Elementary, CO.

I am an art teacher in Denver and I adore all of
your images! Nice work, great color choices!
Lynn, Art teacher, Denver, Colorado

Hi Mrs fuglestad!! Thanks for being the best art teacher ever!! And thanks for letting me have a part in
young sloppy brush!!! I liked the movie!!!
Dryden Student

I liked blah blah OOps so much now it is stuck in my head.
Thanks for making this movie and the
other movies!!!!!
Dryden Student

I am so glad I was in Young sloppy brush!
Thanks for inculding me. I hope it wins in the
fesitval!!!
It's such a great movie!
Dryden Student

Young Sloppy Brush was my favorite when I had the
opportunity to judge it. I also wanted to say that I am amazed that
the film fest,
which sprang from a letter, could create something like this.
When I sent in a letter to the Village of Schaumburg in March of 2006,
I was in the 8th grade and I'm now a freshman in High School. I didn't think
that I would ever get a response, but when I did, I never thought it
would become this publicized. I look forward to seeing another film from
you and your art class next year. Tell your class Great Work!
- Jay , JF Productions

Review of Young Sloppy Brush:
Congratulations on creating an imaginative,
entertaining and educational movie! I loved it!
- Mrs. Schoeffmann, Retired Teacher

Your latest Vermeer project is amazing work for 3rd graders.
How did you get so many wonderful results!?
It is so inspiring to look at the work of other
art teachers to get new ideas.
Thanks for your inspiration. :)
-Laura Art Teacher at Schafer School, Lombard, IL.

Hi Tricia, I am familiar with your site through Incredible Art Department.
I am hoping that I can use 2 of your
patterned figure images
to include in a PPT that I am finishing for a
Youth Art Month presentation at NAEA in NY.
They would be representing the state of Illinois.
No student names will be used.
Linda, Art Educator, Rosemont Ridge Middle School, OREGON

My name is Lia. I run a small art school in Edwardsville IL.
I just viewed your students
Articulation video.
Great job!!!  I would love to share this message with my students
and their families, and those who are thinking
about signing their child up for art class.
May I
place a link to your video on my website?
Thank You!
Lia, Art Teacher/Owner, Smock Paper Scissors

WOW!
Your whole
site is brilliant! I love the instructional animations -
would it be ok for me to use them in my classroom?
You make my lessons look rubbish!
Love Naomi, Art Teacher

Thank you Tricia for the wonderful videos!
I have to say
ART-iculation and the Young Sloppy Brush are still may
favorites, but I can see why your students want to make videos all the time!
I only wish I could put your movies on DVD & play them for my
students - even tho they are 7/8th graders I think they would be
riveted & the sloppy brush message is priceless!
You must be very music-talented too!
I can't image how you come up with the great
songs!
Amazing. Congratulations over & over.
Anne, Art Teacher in Oregon

Review for Mr. Craftsman:
I really liked this movie because, it is a great example
for little kids to start drawing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Dryden Student

You're awesome! I just checked out your gallery and your website! I
LOVE
the white spot inspector! Ha! Thanks!
Liz, Art Teacher from Barrington,IL

I love the Young Sloppy Brush movie.
What a great idea! I love that the students made it with you.
Was this hard to orchestrate?
Danielle, Art Teacher from Naperville, IL

Dear Ms. Fuglestad, I recently had the opportunity to take my twins
to their first Dryden Open House for Kindergarten. As we walked through
the hallways with Dr. Jares I was immediately overtaken by the
wonderful art displays throughout the school. The
art projects were awesome and
I'm so happy that my boys will be in your program.
Future Dryden Parent

Dear Tricia, Your Native American Portraits ala George Catlin as
published on
Artsonia are very stunning!
Sincerely,
Marcia, Art Teacher at Seltzer Elementary,Wichita, KS

Hi Mrs. Fuglestad, I just love to see Lisa's art at the library,
school and
Artsonia. What a great art teacher you are. You really inspire
Lisa. We have framed her artwork and put it up in our home. I like
Lisa's art better than any piece of artwork I would purchase. Thanks.
Kim, Dryden Parent

Tricia-  as far as i am concerned, you are the best art teacher i have ever known....and i don't even know you.  There are so many levels to your teaching....and i just love the technology you incorporate and everything your kids do just pops with intensity.  Have you ever presented at any of the art conferences??  You would be such an inspiration if you have not already done so. Suzanne, art teacher from Brunswick Acres, NJ

Wow! I just saw some of your
videos.
We would like to do some work similar to your
iExpress for a
character development project for our school next year.
Michelle, Science Teacher from Oregon

Hello Tricia,
I decided to look at your
work and I am just amazed. As a first year teacher, I am envious of your work. It seems as if you have your students work with many new and creative ways to make art. If you ever have the time, I would love to get together and talk about your curriculum. Maybe you could show me how you created some of your works because I am interested in using more technology in the art room. Thanks for all your dedication to art - your students will never forget you or art because of you! We need more of you in our field!
Deyana, Art Teacher from Bloomingdale, IL

Hello, there. I like your home page and I visit you often.

Tricia, I just LOVE your videos and I would really love to learn how to do these with my students.  My kids would LOVE playing around with these movies, and I will be showing all of your movies to them.  Love it.
An ardent admirer,
Linda, Art Teacher, St. John's School
Houston, Texas

Tricia, LOVED viewing your videos!!   May I have permission to show "Be Kind to your Eraser" to my kids on the first day of school this fall?   I absolutely love it!  Also, did you have to go to a class to learn how to create these types of videos?   I am not very computer literate but I'd love to learn....
Thanks and have a terrific, creative summer!
Cindy, Art Teacher, Tulsa, Oklahoma

Tricia-  The artwork that your students create is amazing.  There work shows what a wonderfully creative art teacher they have. :)
Lauren, Art Teacher from Las Vegas, NV

Hi.I just wanted to say that I love your projects! What material did you use to color in the Modigliani projects? (what brand, etc.) Thanks!
Christine, Art Teacher from Glen Ellyn, IL

Tricia: I'm impressed with how much student work you have on Artsonia. I really like the iExpress lesson. Why don't you write that up for SchoolArts?
Nancy, Art teacher, Denton, Texas and
Editor of School Arts Magazine

Tricia, I really enjoyed watching a few of your videos. Sloppy brush and
contour line are two that I will show in my elementary classes. Last
year was my first year and I had a few that showed no respect for
tools or supplies. What fun reinforcement!
Thanks,
Shellee, Art teacher in ND

Hi Tricia, I saw your videos on teachertube. You do a great job and they really address some great things in the art room!
Did you do the one with
the scream? I was wondering if you would be willing to share that assignment. I think it would be perfect for my 6th graders. It looks pretty self explanatory except for the photo part. What program did you use? How big were the pictures?
Thanks,
Kelli, Art Teacher in NE

I was checking out some of your videos and was very amazed by them.
You are inspiring and
the work you are doing admirable. I hope I'm able
to integrate art to my class more... I feel like I still have so much
to learn... Keep it up!!
Sincerely,
Myrna, Art Teacher

Tricia - I am an art teacher too ! Please tell me the media used on
your
double pop art portraits - Paint? Marker? Is the black line yarn?
I LOVE them! I am starting my year off with Andy Warhol and would
love to know how you did it! Thank you !
Jennifer, Art Teacher

I am an art teacher getting ready to go back to school.
I love your
videos on art and plan to integrate them into my classes.
Keep them coming!
patartsy3

Your videos are AWESOME!!!!
-Artsonia Art Teacher

I really enjoyed looking at your videos online. I am always on the
lookout for new ways to teach the "same old" concepts. I'm going to use
your
Repeat video on Monday! I am a second year teacher and I found
out about
Artsonia last year, but wanted to wait until I got my feet wet
before I did it. I'm looking forward to putting student work up!
Again, I really enjoyed your
website. It is so encouraging to see other
art teachers that are teaching valuable lessons and keeping
art important to our schools!
Ms. Berg, Art Teacher from Iowa

Tricia,
Just a quick question: have you ever considered selling
a DVD with the video and song clips? Thank you for posting them on your
website but I would certainly be interested if you ever do put it together
on a DVD - I don't always have the equipment to show web stuff (hopefully
someday soon). Just wanted you to know that your work is appreciated....
Mary in East Grand Forks, MN (also teach across our river in ND)

Your webpage is awesome!  It is so creative and inginuitive
My class uses tons of technology, but I don't know how you've created those videos.
Which program do you use?  Thanks for your inspiration!

Cari M,Multi-Age Enrichment
Washington West Elementary, Olean, NY

I was just dazzled by your web site...bravo.
 I am a Chicagoland teacher..in the burbs.
Where are you?  Would like to talk to your further about your work.
Jan B., Meridian Middle School, Buffalo Grove, Ill

Hello, I want to compliment you (I am sure you get a lot of compliments) on your video concept combining ideas with music to make learning fun.  I have been looking for ideas to do an ipod image with my 4th graders when I came across your iExpress video.
I was wondering how you began
the lesson, and if you gave choices of words the students had to express or if they had to come up with them on their own.  I was also wondering what medium your students use and how you had such a high success for your students to create the silhouette so accurately. If you do not mind helping a 2nd year art teacher out, I would really appreciate your expertise...
(or even
if you shared your lesson so I could adapt it to a higher grade level!)  Thank you,
Rachel C, Berkeley County School District, SC

I was just parusing on the Artsonia site and came across one of your projects which led me to your webpage. My gosh what an amazing site. How do you find the time? Can you give me some tech pointers. Our school has just chosen the theme of digital technology school, and I am way behind the times. I could use any help you could offer. Thanks,
Tamara D, Art Teacher from Georgia

Hi Tricia! I absolutely love your videos! I just moved from teaching Middle
school to Elementary and found your
Fugleflicks., and would love to
use them in the classroom.. Can/do I ask for permission to use them??
I didn't see that you sell   them...I know you'd do well if you did.
Thanks so much,
Denise in South Pasadena, Ca

I was just browsing through artsonia for some new lesson ideas, and I
love the work
your students do! I think yours might be the best I
have found so far! Everytime I see something
I like it is from your school!
Stephanie S., Art Teacher from Asheville, NC.

Hi Tricia...I am a supervisor for 20 Art Ed. students at the University of Wisconsin- Milwaukee.
If ok, I will show
your work to my seminar students.
What video software do you use for your work?
Why not try to show your work at an
NAEA conference?
Nancy Mitchel , University of Wisconsin

I've been showing your movies to my classes all week.
We are really having fun with them. Great Work! ;)
Thanks for sharing them!
Leah R., Art Teacher in Alabama

I wanted you to know, I am so impressed with the quality of work your
students make, especially the
craftsmanship. I am a K-8 art teacher
and have some students who do excellent in craftsmanship (no
brushstrokes, etc.), but you seem to have everyone doing it. What is your secret?
Art Teacher

"Love your artroom movies!"
George from Milwaukee

Great job on being the Best in Illinois again this year (on Artsonia)!! The
art is great and the hard work you do is evident, keep it up and
congratualtions to all your talented artists as well.
Artsonia Visitor

Dear Ms. Fuglestad,
I have viewed your
student PSA’s for art and
would love to share them with teachers attending the
IAEA conference luncheon this fall.
May I have your permission to use them?
Laura M, Hinsdale Central High School

President Illinois Art Education Association

Tricia, I pulled up your artsonia page at my district's last professional development day (where all of the k-12 art teachers had a photoshop workshop)....and everyone was in awe of your iexpress project.  one of my colleagues just sent me an email to let me know that your project was in the school arts magazine (CONGRATS!)  Also.....great news about Young Sloppy Brush and the Chicago Childrens' Film Festival!   i told everyone that i basically stalk your websites.....artsonia...and your school site (to see your awesome videos).......so now you are the buzz of our district.  I am sure everyone has your sites saved as favorites on their computers (as i do).   I hope you don't mind that you will most likely be seeing so many others doing your projects as well.  One art teacher (Constable School...South Brunswick) is starting to work on a clay leaf project because she loved your kids work so much.  I have so many favorites of yours, but I have just started working with my 4th graders....doing your magritte project.  they are getting such a kick out of putting the apple in front of their faces.
Thank you for rejuvinating me in the classroom and for being such an inspirational person.
 Much Admiration and Thanks,
Suzanne, Art Teacher from New Jersey

I stumbled upon your website and blog and was wondering if I
could share your
video's with my students? I'm always looking
for fun and interesting sites to share with students.
Beth, Art Teacher, Lancaster County, PA

I am part of ArtsEdNet and saw your -pod video and took a look
through your
website. I am impressed by how you integrate technology
in so many of
your projects. Indeed, the concept videos are
reminiscent of "
the Schoolhouse Rock".
Your kids must just love art!I am always looking for ways others
have integrated technology into their curriculums. Bravo!
Regards,
Melissa E, Belgrade, Serbia

Dear Tricia, Found you from your FugleFlicks site while looking for
interactive art resources for our SMART Board. I was entranced by your
fun flicks. I followed the link to
Artsonia. My school is bigcreek1 on
that site. I can tell you must be a very fine art educator. Thanks for
the fun time exploring your creative
website.
Kathy J, Art Teacher, Middleburg Heights, Ohio

Hello, Kathy (above) just told me about your site, and among other things, I
just watched
sloppy brush. Cool stuff. Very nice. I would write more,
but I have to run back to your site to see more.
Great work,
Matt J.(Kathy's husband)
P.S. I know you work very hard to create all this for your kids.

I love the movie (Articulation) you and your 5th graders made.
Great job! I was wondering if I could add a link to it on my art room website?
Our site is http://www.gateofheaven.net/artroom_main_page.htm
Thanks for sharing.
Deb P, Art Teacher, South Boston, Massachusetts

Your little videos are so great!!
A student directed presentation such as this, (Articulation), says much more than
any "long-winded" article with way too many words. When our little
ones can make such articulations it says it all.
I guess all of us envy and wish we had the time to do such things--
thank you for the inspiration- - 40 seconds of all the "Bloom's"
objectives-great job.
Patty K, High School Art Teacher

Hi Mrs. F, I love the videos! I am an EFL teacher in Japan. I am trying to build a website so that my students will be able to practice their English online. I would really like to be able to produce videos like the ones you have made. I am wondering if you could tell me how you put together your videos, what software you used, etc.
Thank you! I particularly like what you did in
"All I Want is Technology".
Shannon K., EFL teacher, Japan

Mrs. F, I am a chair person for the NYSCATE Conference which takes place Nov 17-21, 2007. We would like to use this video stream of "All I Want is Technology" in a presentation to teachers at our evening event. The video would be placed on a DVD and the played before teachers attending the conference. We can also add credits if you wish. If you could please email me as soon as possible if you will grant us the right to do this, that would be wonderful. Thank you,
Doreen P. Registration Chair NYSCATE, New York

Dear Mrsfuglestad,
While we selected only 15 finalists, we wanted to further recognize just a few more submissions –

Hello Tricia, I just read your “iexpress” article in the November 2007 Schoolarts magazine.  It is so cool.  I am going to try it with my 8th graders.  Your students must love art. Thank you so much for your hard work in creating the project and publishing it in School Arts magazine to share with me.
Brenda C.. Art teacher, Circle Middle School, Benton KS

Thanks so much for sharing! This is a great idea (iExpress)! The kids always love projects that involve pop culture! Congrats on being published. How exciting! I need to update my subscription.
Take care, Katie H., Sacred Heart Academy / Hardey Prep, Chicago

Dear Mrs. Fuglestad, We have been going mask crazy! We are going to use your mask lesson plan to do all of our walls. We love the idea. By the way.......you are our favorite art teacher in the world. You are our imaginary friend. We refer to you all the time. Yes, we do know that you are a real person. We even have a trip planned to come visit you. In our dreams.
Keep up the great work. You are inspirational!
Love,
The Art Ladies Nicole G. and Susan G., Art Teachers, Paradise, CA

I've recently returned from the Chicago International Children's Film Festival, where I saw your school's wonderfully fun short film Young Sloppy Brush' up on the big screen. As the director of Little Big Shots here in Australia, I would love to invite this short made by your students to screen as part of the Little Big Shots 2008 touring program. The animation definitely fits the festival ethos, and I'm sure Australian kid audiences will be delighted by its imaginative story and side-splitting execution!
Marcella Bidinost Festival Director Little Big Shots

Tricia, Swept Away is such an excellent example of problem based learning! These
kids had to use much critical thinking, cooperation, and analysis.
They not only got to
make art, but found a way to make others aware
of something that drives all of us art teachers crazy. When kids can
give this kind of "voice" and make an impact on others, it it at the
top of the list of what real world learning is about.
I'm thinking an interesting follow up would be a video from the
maintenance man's point of view.
Just how much stuff is swept away every day?
Bravo to you and your students!!!
Patty, Art Teacher

Dear Ms.Fuglestad, Thank you so much for sending us the movie starring our 3M mop (Swept Away). I
viewed the movie myself, and it is one the most creative things I have seen done with a 3M product!
I am sending this movie to our corporate marketers as well, so that
they may view it too. Your class certainly has a wonderful imagination and some strong singing talent! Keep up the wonderful work, and if you should make another movie using 3m products be sure to send it to us.
Best regards,
Diane P. at 3M/Scotch-Brite products

LOVED Swept Away! I'm going to show it to my art
classes! Good for you!!!!!
Keep up the great work! You are an inspiration!
Shovelling out in Buffalo-

Swept Away is Wonderful, Wonderful, Wonderful - do you mind if I put a copy on my blog and send your movie to everyone I know. Please let me know. What a great use of technology in the classroom.
**Here is his blog entry about Swept Away!
Woody, Retired Art Teacher in Albuquerque, NM

Tricia, I enjoyed Swept Away very much. I forwarded your message to my college
art education students so they can also see this great movie made by
4th graders. I cannot imagine many better projects to help kids learn how to learn
while they are gaining a discipline, developing synthesizing minds,
creative minds, respectful minds, and ethical minds. These are the five
Mind categories from
Howard Gardner's book: The Five Minds for the
Future
. Thanks for sharing.
Marvin, Professor of Art Education at Goshen College

Trish, Swept Away is Terriffic!!! Mind if add this one and your
behind the scenes shots to a couple of my presentations?

Thank You.......Thank You,

Love it!!! (Swept Away) Tell our 4th graders, that Gillian started smiling when she heard the music,
she loved it too!!  Great work!
:)Mrs. Dufern, LMC Director, Dryden

Bravo! Congratulations to Mrs. Funglestad and her brilliant group of students! I really enjoyed watching your video (Swept Away) and will be very careful to pick up all the pencils, erasers and papers on my classroom floor every day!
Thanks for sharing your video with the world!

Carol Anne, Teacher from California

This (Swept Away) was absolutely adorable Trish!
Ms. Ander (ELL), Dryden

Once again Brilliant!!!
I think I need to share this one
(Swept Away) with my other art teachers.
Alexis, Art Teacher, Barrington, IL

Dear Tricia- "Swept Away" is absolutely adorable.
You and the fourth graders should be so proud of yourselves; the film is great!
Congratulations on the efforts of all your hard work.
Dr. Lynn, Director of Staff Development & Support Programs, AHSD25

Hi Tricia,  These movies just keep getting better and better.  The
animation and singing
(in Swept Away) are really creative and enjoyable.  Thanks
again for all of the time and energy you spent coordinating this and
putting it together.
Dr. Jares, Dryden Elementary School Principal

Mrs. Fuglestad, Thank you so much for all the hard work (and staying in for your lunch recesses)
that the film
(Swept Away) took to put together. We are so lucky have you and
such a wonderful art program. Thanks for sharing your wonderful talent,
creativity and patience with our students.

I don't know how I stumbled on to your website, but wow, you are

I have just read your letter to the YAHOO art education list serve
Wow, I loved your latest movie (
Swept Away). Will show it to my kids.
I moved on and looked at the
Dryden work on ARTSONIA.
I would  love to know more about how you talk to kids about
-
the self portraits -- frida kahlo and pop art
-
the monochromatic dogs -the iPaint
Please share if you could.

Hi Tricia. I love what you do with the kids. I am a Canadian art teacher working in Hong Kong so you can tell your kids their work is being appreciated on the other side of the planet. Great work everyone! from
Catharine, Art Teacher,Hong Kong

That (Swept Away) was your best one yet!  I love the special effects on the footage!  Most of all, I liked the Custodial Engineer!  Thanks for the smile today!  The message is well received, I'll put away my stuff!  :)

Dear Tricia, I am one of your fans! I love "It came with the chair"
you are so creative -- great project for development of the
imagination! They look so wonderful...what is the medium used? I can't tell from
the photos, but what ever it is, I want to use it with my kids! Thanks
for any help you can give me.

Hello, I’m an elementary art teacher in Indiana.  I love your site and can’t wait to look through it more!
  I’d like to make
videos and such like you did, but I am not sure where to start!  I also saw you have a help page so I’ll look at that too.  Thanks!
Christy V. ,Art Educator, Indiana

Is there any way you could share with me how you make your movies like the president’s day one where the mouths are moving but a static photo?  I’m toying with imovie and thought I would give it a try if it were simple enough to do with my students!  Your site is absolutely wonderful!!! Thanks for being so thorough with so much being on there!!!
Stephanie W., Art Teacher, Texas

Tricia,You...made...my....day....
I am definitely sharing
your site with my students.

Wow!!! Your computer art projects are amazing!!! I'm dying to know
how the students drew their bodies when working on the
Super ART
student project
.Thanks so much - I wish I could visit your art room for a day!
Mary Jo G. Media Specialist,Fort Collins, CO

Dear Ms. Fuglestad, You are amazing!! Our grandsons are very lucky to have you not only as a terrific art teacher, but as a wonderful role model. I say that because it's evident that you are so much more to your students than an art teacher. Our boys are
so happy with their art projects and having them posted on Artsonia. Also, it seems your methods and art projects develop the students' self-confidence (not that our two need it!).
Two Lucky Dryden Grandparents, Joanne and Ken K

Hi Tricia! Your student's artwork is looking great! I'm jealous of
your Mac capabilities once again. :)
Danielle K. , Indian Prairie School District, Aurora, IL

WOW! Your site ROCKS! I can't wait to use your movies in my own
teaching! Your lessons look like so much fun! Would you be willing to share
some of your plans? I would love to pick your brain! Thanks for putting
so much into what you do and then sharing it with others!

your kiddos. I have gotten many
great ideas from you!"

Hi Tricia,
I happened upon your awesome videos on teachertube and from there found your website.  I am so impressed with what you are doing in your classroom and was hoping you could offer some advice to a new art teacher.  I have taught 5/6 grade for 10 years and just found out I am moving to my school's art position.  I am certified in art and am super excited about the change. I will be teaching art to grades 1-6 and would appreciate any suggestions or advice you can give me.
Thank you for your time.  I can tell you are one busy teacher!
~Aimee E., Oklahoma Art Teacher

Hi!  My name is Melissa and I teach art in NC.  I was surfing the web the other night and came across your website.  I was amazed at what you do!  I am always looking for new and innovative lessons for my kids and saw your iPaint drawings on Artsonia.  How did you do these?(if you don't mind sharing)  They are awesome!!  Your technology capabilities are also unbelievable  Cute songs.  I wish I had your talents.  I'm sure you are told that all the time.
I have not sent my kids work to
Artsonia but am thinking about it.  Are you well pleased and are there any drawbacks!
Well, if you get a chance to write back, that would be great.
Hope your day is wonderful,
Melissa, Art Teacher, NC

Hi, Tricia --
Thank you again for your thoughtful responses to the email interview for a
feature. My editor was so impressed with your work and the draft of my story
that she has decided to make it a full article in the
professional
development area
. (Features are typically shorter stories that aren't as
long and developed.) This should bring additional attention to your amazing
work! Linda expects the story to run in mid-March, so I'll watch for it and
be in touch with you at that time.

Tricia,  Once again, I find myself searching your site for inspiration.  It looks like you are having another wonderfully creative year. I hope you realize the magnitude of your inspiration, and that because of you, art programs all over the world are changing for the better.  Sincerely,
Suzanne T, New Jersey Art Teacher

Tricia, I LOVE the work you do with your kids!

I think Trish is an exemplary leader in what the arts can provide for moving art education forward.
Trish's videos show forward thinking and
engagement with student directed learning which is what it's all about.
Patty Knott, HS Art Teacher

Among the many things that impressed me about Tricia was her
enthusiasm for her subject, her students, and for the creative possibilities
that digital technology present to her to her students. Her attitude reminded
me that digital tools will not transform education, unless passionate and
knowledgeable teachers guide their use in the classroom.
Craig Roland, Professor of Art Education, Uof Florida

Tricia,I have to tell you that while I was grading your assignment last night, both my 4 year old and my 8 year old stopped what they were doing to come over & view your Reflection. Then they wanted to see it again. Then they wanted to watch the "Go Green" Song - my four year old watched it 4 times & sang it until he went to bed! We spent over an hour exploring your site, looking at your awards, and just "ooing and ahhing" over your teaching style. My 8 year old wanted to be in your class and my 4 year old wanted to go home with you! :) So - I guess I can blame you that I'm done finished grading yet (just kidding!), but it was all worth it! Thank you for sharing your classroom world with us!
Alethea, online facilitator, PBS Teacherline
Hi Tricia, I was at your school with the Hinsdale group on Tuesday, and I had to sneak out early because I had art club back at my school...I just wanted to thank you for your wonderful presentation and  for giving us your time and expertise.  I have been inspired by your Artsonia site for several years and have always wondered how you made your movies.  Thanks for sharing, and it was a pleasure meeting you and seeing your student's artwork .  Sincerely,
Kathy M, The Lane School, Hinsdale, IL

Hi,I am the person who was asking about artsonia on teachersnet.  First of all, let me tell you how much I love what you do in your classroon.  I have gone to your site and love all the ideas.  I hope you don't mind me contacting you personally and not using the board. Thanks again for you help. Have a good week.
Thanks Cherie, Art Teacher, Sterling, IL

Wow Tricia. I always knew you were destined for more. People outside of your district would have to start taking interest in what you're doing. Any time I run into an art teacher and they ask for ideas, I always send them to your website to get inspiration.
Ken Roar, Incredible Art Department

(Dryden Art) This is an noteworthy website. Tricia Fuglestad is an elementary teacher and a master at media technology and she shows it. Her students are a part a muriad of activities/projects that are done in tandem with video, or audio, or other tech stuff. But always done with an artistic theme or message. One educational mini video, called a Fugleflick, has a student dressed as an eraser while interviewing a pencil. The pencil laments over how he is improperly used and students press to hard, then find when they need to erase, it won’t come off well. Of course the eraser can relate. Some other fugleflicks are “Young Sloppy Brushes”, “Be Kind to your erasers”, and “Swept Away”, about things dropped on the floor. The students also make up poetry about an artwork, and it is read to appropriate music selected for the reading. There are a variety of videos and tech visuals. They and this site are worth checking out. What makes this so interesting is the unique perspective used in some of the things that are presented. These can be used to share with any classroom. There is also Fugleblog, FugleArtGallery, FugleSong, FugleFun and others. This is engaging and motivating to watch and I recommend it for upper and lower elementary grades. Some may work for lower middle school grades as well.

The art teachers in our district always say we want to be Tricia Fuglestad when we grow up! You do amazing things!
Amy K, Art Teacher, Wisconsin

I am not sure how I got so lucky, but I came across your WONDERFUL flash and music videos, and I cant WAIT to show them to my elementary art students at the beginning of the year.  All of them are so creative, on point, and well made!  Thank you SO much for making them, and sharing with the rest of the Art Teacher Community!
Miss Barth, Art Teacher, Florida

I just wanted to say thanks for being such a wonderful art teacher.  This is our 1st year at Dryden and when my son Ryan (Kdg) started, I have to say that art, coloring and being creative was not high on his list. :-)   But we are amazed at what he has done and he has enjoyed art and I think that he is pretty proud of what he has done. You have done great projects (and they all are keepers!)  over this past year and I just wanted to say thanks.  We (and the Grandparents)  love Artsonia and appriceiate the time that it takes you to do it.  Dryden is very lucky to have you as the art teacher and we are looking forward to the new projects for 1st grade!!

Hi Tricia, I am one of the many who read the TeacherArt Exchange. I was very impressed with the movies! I am going to try doing some beginning movies next year. I am also interested in the iExpress projects. I have been trying to figure out how to do this using our school’s programs. Would you mind terribly telling me how you did that project? Thanks so much!
Rita Kelly M., Art Teacher, Ethridge Elementary, The Colony, TX

Hi Tricia, I am an art teacher in Baton Rouge, LA and I have followed your amazing use of technology for years.  I first found you on Artsonia.  I truly admired your progressive approach teaching art.  I am currently applying for a grant to have a Smartboard/interactive white board in my art room.  I have to present my ideas to a large group of parents showing what a Smartboard can do for an art classroom, and honestly I have never used one before. I was wondering if you have a suggestion of a “knockout” application o show what a Smartboard can do to enhance the K-5 art curriculum. I appreciate any advice, direction, or suggestion. SINCERELY, Jennifer K. Art Teacher, Baton Rouge, LA

Hi Tricia, I saw your website and loved it.  I am a technology coordinator at Rondout and would love to know how you did the Warhol Montage, the iPod advertisements, green screen and the hair around the face.
I am operating in a PC environment and know with a little bit of surfing on Google I could find comparable programs that do the same things.  I’m going to try
animoto today! I would greatly appreciate to hear from you.  Thank you so much!  Kind Regards,
Sheila B, Tech Coordinator, Rondout School

You are incredibly talented, which I knew when you were in my class - and an amazing asset to your school and your students! Keep sending all these great news pieces (Winning at Shortie Awards) ... I am certain there will be more!!
