Meet your new admin: Steve Perkins, South Middle School
The new building administrators have jumped right into their new roles here in Arlington Heights School District 25, but they still had some time to answer a few quick questions to better introduce themselves to their communities.
Below is who Steve Perkins is as an Associate Principal at South Middle School.
Give us a brief history of your career...what has lead you to this new role in District 25?
I began my teaching career in Des Moines Public Schools and enjoyed great success as a teacher and building leader for ten years. I came to District 25 to help support teachers and students and continue to learn and grow with an excellent staff and community.
The ideal way I spend my free time is.....
I enjoy spending time with friends and loved ones, exploring new places to eat, and traveling as much as possible. I am just as happy relaxing with a book or a board game as I am out and about watching Bears games or going to concerts.
If I were an animal...I would be...
A Bald Eagle. I think it would be great to be able to fly and represent a symbol for America at the same time.
Why did you originally become an educator?
I have had many teachers throughout my life who impacted me and made me realize that teaching is what I wanted to go into. Both of my parents were also educators their entire careers so I have always been a part of the educational realm.
Anything else you want to say to your community?
I am looking forward to supporting teachers and helping impact students’ lives in a positive way. Don’t forget to be awesome!
