Dear South Families,

We hope you enjoyed the warm, sunny weekend. It is difficult to believe we are well into the month of September. Below is this week’s administrative message and South happenings.

We have been advertising the District 25 parent-teacher conference dates of Thursday, October 18 and Friday, October 19. Here is a parent letter (click for link) explaining more about our South Middle School parent-teacher conferences format and online scheduling window.

District 214/Linked Together Parent Presentation-

Here is a flyer for an upcoming Linked Together Coalition and District 214 parent presentation we shared earlier this week. All High School District 214 feeder middle school parents are invited. It includes a registration link to attend.

Student Pictures-

Student picture composites were distributed by Homebase teachers last week to any students who were present for our August Picture Day. Parents can order/pay online or students should return order envelopes/payment to their Homebase teachers by this Tuesday, September 18th. Tuesday, October 9th is for any students who were absent or interested in a retake. They will be called down by grade level, so make sure your child knows this date .

Dress Code/Bike Safety Reminders-

Even as we approach fall, we know warm weather will continue for a few weeks. Here are some dress code and bike/skateboard safety reminders for all.

Curriculum Nights-

Each year, we reflect on our 6-7-8 Grade Curriculum Night formats and make changes based on parent and staff feedback. Here is a link to a survey. Many thanks to all of you who have already completed this survey.

Child Injuries-

If your child has an injury which requires him or her to be out of PE class or which requires special school day accommodations like using the elevator, our school nursing team needs to receive such notes and then plans are made and communicated amongst teachers and teams accordingly. Thank you in advance for your cooperation.

Other South Happenings-

Students and parents can check out our announcements page to know other South happenings and student opportunities. You can also click on our @South Twitter and @ahsd25 Twitter pages for highlights and updates around South and Arlington Heights School District 25.

We are excited to greet your children tomorrow. Thanks for your help in making this a great start to the school year!

Sincerely,

Piper Boston, Principal
