Cold and Flu Season
There is a rise in common illness within our schools.
Please help us keep our students and staff healthy by following this guidance:
Consider keeping your child at home for a day of rest if they have any of these symptoms:
-
Mild stuffy or runny nose and/or mild cough
-
Mild sore throat (no fever, no known exposure to strep)
-
Headache
-
Stomach ache
Your child must stay home if they have any of these symptoms:
-
Fever (100.4f or higher)
-
Vomiting
-
Diarrhea
-
Chills
-
Feelings of fatigue, discomfort, weakness or muscle aches
-
Frequent Cough, including congested (wet) or croupy cough
Your child may return to school when:
-
Fever free for at least 24 hours without use of fever-reducing medication
-
At least 24 hours since the last episode of vomiting or diarrhea
-
24 hours after starting antibiotics if prescribed by a provider
-
Symptoms are improving, and they are well enough to participate in normal activities
Help prevent the flu and other colds by teaching your children good hygiene habits:
-
Wash your hands frequently.
-
Do not touch your eyes, nose or mouth.
-
Cover your mouth and nose when sneezing or coughing, use a paper tissue, throw it away and then wash your hands.
-
Avoid close contact with people who are sick.
-
Avoid sharing personal items, food, or drinks.

Digital Citizenship Week
The week of February 3rd will be Digital Citizenship Week in District 25. Each day, the morning announcements will focus on a specific digital citizenship topic to guide students to be safe, responsible, and respectful online. Each day will have a dress-up theme that reminds everyone of the focus of the day. Get dressed up and learn about the best ways to be kind, safe, and responsible online!
Dear Greenbrier Elementary School Families,
We’re almost there - just a few more students to go before we reach our goal. There’s still time to make a difference. Take action today! Your family can become lifesavers by learning Hands-Only CPR, how to recognize the warning signs of a stroke, understanding how the heart works, and by raising awareness and funds to help those with special hearts. Together we can create healthier futures!
Here’s how you can get involved and make a life-saving difference:
- Download the FREE AHA Schools App for Apple or Android and click on “Register Now” then scroll down to join your school's team.
-
- Next, click on “send a text today” to easily reach friends & family!
- OR click HERE. and choose “Sign Up” to get started.
We have some BONUS incentives for our students this year:
Thank you for being an integral part of the Kids Heart Challenge, supporting our school and the American Heart Association. Your commitment and involvement truly make a difference!
Valentine's Day
Valentine's parties are scheduled in elementary classrooms for February 13. Just like our Halloween parties, we will not serve or use food in any crafts or games. Instead, we will focus on games and activities. Room reps should double-check with their classroom teachers to verify the set-up and start time. If your child passes out Valentine's cards to other students, the cards cannot have any candy or food attached. Non-edible trinkets such as pencils, erasers, stickers, etc., are great alternatives. Goodie bags filled with trinkets or candy are not allowed. We greatly appreciate our room reps and volunteers who organize and provide fun Valentine's experiences for our students.
District 25 Pre-Registration is now OPEN
Pre-Registration is NOW open to families with incoming new and kindergarten students for next year, 2025-2026! Please begin the registration process by visiting www.sd25.org/Registration and clicking on the 2025-2026 Pre-Registration drop-down.
