Arrival Procedures

  •

School doors open at 9:00 AM. Staff members begin outdoor supervision at 8:50 AM. The first bell rings at 8:55 AM and the second bell at 9:00 AM. Staff members will signal to students when to line up by their classes on the blacktop to prepare to enter the school. Windsor School does not have any students transported by bus. Instead, students arrive to school many ways including: being dropped off by parents, walking, riding bikes, or taking a taxi. Here are some important procedures for each method of arrival.

Afternoon Kindergarteners arrive at 12:45 PM and will meet on the sidewalk outside of the classrooms (by the garden) to come into the school by 12:50 PM. Students will exit at 3:35 PM outside of the Kindergarten classroom doors.

    DROP & GO!

Our arrival/drop-off procedures are fondly known as "Drop & Go!" Below are the procedures for Drop & Go:

    • If you live on the West side of Windsor School please use the front circle.
      • Parents must NOT GET OUT OF THE CAR.
      • Parents pull away when the door closes-no watching the kids walk in-following the car in front of you.
      • Please drive slow in the parking lot when exiting.
      • Please do not park your car and walk your child in, this can be very dangerous with the flow of the drop and go.
    • If you live on the East side of Windsor School please use drop and go on Windsor Drive.
      • On Windsor the traffic travels North to South for drop off.
      • Parents must follow the volunteer’s direction and pull up to the front of the line.
      • Do not pass cars in front of you.
      • Children must be ready to exit the car as parents pull into the line (no looking for backpacks, putting folders away, etc.) or they will be directed to circle the block.
      • Parents must NOT GET OUT OF THE CAR.
      • Pull up, kids must exit the vehicle on their own, the car leaves.
      • Parents pull away when the door closes-no watching the kids walk in-following the car in front of you.

Riding Bikes: Students who ride bikes to school should please walk their bike once they arrive on Windsor school grounds. They can lock bikes on one of the bike racks on the side of the school by the corner of Miner and Windsor.

Taxis: Some students qualify for District-provided transportation by taxi. These taxis drop-off and pick up students in the front circle of the building. Students are greeted by teachers upon exiting the taxi.

**Staff members will monitor outside until 9:05. If students arrive after 9:05, parents should park and bring them in through the front office where students will receive a tardy slip to enter their classroom.

Dismissal Procedures

  • Students in grades 1-5 are dismissed at 3:35 PM. AM Kindergarteners' school day ends at 11:50 AM and supervision is until 11:55 AM. Our afternoon Kindergarteners are dismissed at 3:35 PM with the rest of the school.

    Parent Pick-Up:

Students are dismissed out the front doors or the doors that face Windsor Drive.

If you live on the west side of Windsor, we typically tell students to exit through the front doors or to head in that direction, if they leave another door. (Parents can then pick up students from the circle drive or from the blacktop.)

If you live on the east side of Windsor School, we typically tell students to exit through the back doors head towards Windsor Drive to get picked up.

Parents should wait in their cars along Windsor Drive or the front drive for students to find them. Parents MAY NOT get out of their cars while in between the arrival/dismissal signs on Windsor.

It is important for parents to confirm your after school pick up location with children.

    Taxis:

Some students qualify for District-provided transportation by taxi. These taxis drop-off and pick up students in the front circle of the building. Teachers help students enter the cabs safely, put in carseats, etc.

**Any students who have not been picked up by 3:45 PM will be walked back to the Windsor office by a staff member. Parents may not let their children play on the Windsor playground after school without supervision.
