    Supervision and Arrival Times

Staff members begin outdoor supervision at 8:50 AM. The first bell rings at 8:55 AM and the second bell at 9:00 AM. Students wait near their grade level doors/entrances.

Afternoon Kindergarten supervision begins at 12:45 PM. They meet on the sidewalk outside of the classrooms (by the garden) to come into the school by 12:50 PM.

    Arrival DROP & GO!

Windsor School does not have any students transported by bus. Instead, students arrive to school many ways including: being dropped off by parents, walking, riding bikes, or taking a taxi.

Here are some important procedures for each method of arrival.

Our arrival/drop-off procedures are fondly known as "Drop & Go!" Below are the procedures for Drop & Go:

    • If you live on the West side of Windsor School, please use Drop & Go at the FRONT CIRCLE.
      • Drive slowly when entering and exiting the front circle/parking lot.
      • Follow the cars in front of you and keep the line moving forward.
      • Children must be ready to exit the car as parents pull forward.
      • Children should exit the vehicle on their own.
      • Parents should pull away when the car door closes. Please follow the car in front of you and keep the line moving forward.
      • Please do not park your car along the front circle and walk your child in, as this can be very dangerous with the flow of the morning Drop & Go.
    • If you live on the East side of Windsor School please use Drop & Go at Windsor Drive.
      • On Windsor Drive the traffic travels North to South for drop off.
      • Parents must follow the staff’s direction and pull up to the front of the line.
      • Please do not pass cars in front of you.
      • Children must be ready to exit the car as parents pull into the line (no looking for backpacks, putting folders away, etc.) or they will be directed to circle the block until the child(ren) are ready to exit.
      • Please pull up with traffic. Children should exit the vehicle on their own.
      • Children can get out any location on Windsor Drive. Traffic will not move efficiently if all drivers try to drop off their children at their exact line up location.
      • Parents must NOT get out of their cars along Windsor Drive during Drop & Go.
      • Parents should pull away when the car door closes. Please follow the car in front of you and keep the line moving forward.

Riding Bikes: Students who ride bikes to school should walk their bikes once they arrive on Windsor school grounds. They can lock bikes on one of the bike racks on the side of the school by the corner of Miner and Windsor. All children should lock their bikes.

Taxis: Some students qualify for District 25 provided transportation by taxi. These taxis drop off and pick up students in the front circle of the building. Students are greeted by teachers upon exiting the taxi.

**Staff members will be helping to supervise outside from 8:50 AM to 9:05 AM. If students arrive after 9:05, parents should park and bring them in through the front office where students will receive a tardy slip to enter their classroom.

Dismissal Procedures

  • Students in grades are dismissed from school at 3:35 PM.

Our morning Kindergarteners' school day ends at 11:50 AM and supervision is until 11:55 AM. Our afternoon Kindergarteners are dismissed at 3:35 PM with the rest of the school out the Kindergarten classroom doors.

    Parent Pick-Up:

Students are dismissed out the front doors or the doors that face Windsor Drive.

    • If you live on the West side of Windsor School, we typically tell students to exit through the front doors or to head in that direction, if they leave another door. (Parents can then pick up students from the circle drive or from the blacktop.)
    • If you live on the East side of Windsor School, we typically tell students to exit through the back doors head towards Windsor Drive to get picked up. (Parents can then pick up students from Windsor Drive.)

Parents should wait in their cars along Windsor Drive or the front drive for students to find them. Parents MAY NOT get out of their cars while in between the arrival/dismissal signs on Windsor Drive.

It is important for parents to confirm your after school pick up location with children.

    Taxis:

Some students qualify for District 25 provided transportation by taxi. These taxis drop-off and pick up students in the front circle of the building. Teachers help students enter the cabs safely, put in carseats, etc.

**Any students who have not been picked up by 3:45 PM will be walked back to the Windsor office by a staff member.

Parents may not let their children play on the Windsor playground after school without supervision.
