    Valentine's Day

Valentine's parties are scheduled in elementary classrooms for Thursday, February 14. Just like our Halloween parties we will not be serving any food or using food in any crafts or games. Instead, we will focus on games and activities. Room reps should double check with their classroom teachers to verify the start time. If your child is passing out Valentine's cards to other students, the cards cannot have any candy or food attached to them. Trinkets such as pencils, erasers, stickers, etc., are great alternatives as long as they are not edible. Items such as goodie bags filled with treats or candy are also not permitted. We greatly appreciate our room reps and all of our volunteers who organize and provide fun Valentine's experiences for our students.

    Kid's Heart Challenge

    Parents & Guardians:

We are very excited to introduce Kids Heart Challenge to our school this year. This program is the new-and-improved Jump Rope For Heart program our school has participated in for many years with the American Heart Association. Kids Heart Challenge encompasses all the things we loved about Jump Rope For Heart but the biggest difference is the heart healthy challenge this program encourages students (and families!) to take. The challenge is simple: students select one of the three challenges listed below using our school’s event website (enter website here) or the Kids Heart Challenge app. It is our hope that by committing to one of these challenges to take care of their hearts it will turn into a lifelong habit that will carry into adulthood. The challenges include:

    1. Drink water over sugary beverages
    2. Be physically active for 60 minutes each day
    3. Do one kind deed every day

Simple, right? All your student has to do is select a challenge and he/she will receive a Kids Heart Challenge glow-in-the-dark wristband to serve as their daily reminder to keep taking the challenge each day. If your student wants to collect life-saving donations to support the American Heart Association’s mission and earn some cool thank- you gift, you can easily do that right there from your personalized Kids Heart Challenge website and app! So easy!

The American Heart Association knows our school is taking this challenge seriously but to make the biggest impact in our students’ lives, we need them to commit to the challenge.

The American Heart Association has offered our school $250 to purchase new PE/Recess equipment to help our students get active if we can get at least 50% of our students registered to take the Kids Heart Challenge.

    Will you help us?

Registering to take the Kids Heart Challenge is simple:

    1. Go to our school’s Kids Heart Challenge website
    2. AND/OR Download the Kids Heart Challenge app on your smart phone or tablet
    3. Following the registration instructions & select your heart healthy challenge

Want to learn more about our school’s Kids Heart Challenge program? Check this out: 2018-2019 Kids Heart Challenge

We are so proud to be partnering with the American Heart Association on this program! An extra $500 to help keep our kids active would be amazing! Thank you for your support!

Drop off and Pick up Reminders

Please pull all the way forward when in the car line. If you would like to walk up and get your child, please park on the street. If you park on the street, please use the sidewalks to get back to your car. Crossing through the parking lot is dangerous. Please be patient. With the winter weather, more people are using the car line and the snow makes it more difficult for our students to get to their cars. Thank You!!

On Wednesday, Greenbrier K-5 students joined a special house made up of a mix of students from each grade and every class. House leaders are from every area and specialty of our school, including the principal and the library media teacher. We hope that a student's house will create a smaller community within Greenbrier and encourage connection across all grade levels. We will have activities throughout the year with our houses. Learning, working and playing together will make us an even stronger community.
