    Construction 6/1/18

    Construction Update

The cabinetry has arrived and they have begun the installation process. They look like a bunch of big puzzle pieces waiting to find their place in the new addition. On June 11th, they will start fencing off the entire building and parking lot. It will be a busy summer as they connect the second floor of the addition to the existing building, replace the plumbing in most classrooms, replace the tile in all of the downstairs hallways, and replace the blacktop on both playgrounds.

    Box Tops

Congratulations to our box top winners!

1st place with 749 is Mrs. Brady
2nd place with 732 is Miss Kennedy
3rd place with 618 is Mrs. Some
4th place with 556 is Mrs. Donovan

The total number of box tops collected this year for the entire school is 5,888!

    Construction 5/25

    May 25, 2018

    Construction Update

Today, I got the chance to take the staff on a tour of the addition. They were all very excited to see the space from the inside for the first time. I can't wait to show it to everyone in August. They have finished tiling and carpeting the hallways and classrooms. They have even added the whiteboards and bulletin boards. Cabinetry arrives next week as well as the flooring for the stairs. Teachers are starting to pack up some of the things that they will not need for the rest of the school year. They will be replacing many of the sinks in the classroom, so teachers are starting to prepare.

    Last Chance for A Yearbook

If you missed the chance to order a yearbook, we still have a limited number available. Please send in the attached form no later than June 1. The yearbooks will be distributed on a first-come, first-serve basis, until we run out.

    Hard Lockdown Drill

We practice a hard lockdown drill on Tuesday with the AHPD. The drill was during the lunch hour. Our 3rd-5th graders were at recess, our 1st-2nd graders were at the tail end of their lunchtime, and our EC students had just arrived. The students and staff did an excellent job following procedures. The officer was very impressed.

    Construction Update

They completed the inspection of the above the ceiling work and are making a few adjustments. Ceiling tile should go in soon with floor tile installation to follow.

    Heat and Air Conditioning

Beginning this week, maintenance technicians will be going around to district buildings to begin the conversion from heating to cooling mode.  After the building has been converted to cooling mode, we will no longer be able to provide heating to the classrooms until the fall of 2018.  Please have your children bring extra layers during this time as buildings may be cooler than normal when outdoor temperatures are lower.

    Hard Lock Down Drill

We will be practice a Hard Lock Down Drill this week. Hard Lock Down drills help students establish a quick response to any intruder in the building. The time of the drill will be a surprise to the students, but we will tell them it is a drill before we start.
