• District 25 is building!

In the Spring of 2023, the District broke ground on the #Build25 expansion project which will build additions for a full day kindergarten program beginning August 2024, as well as address capital project needs throughout District 25’s facilities for future generations of learners.

Six of the District’s seven elementary buildings require additions in order to host full-day kindergarten. Those buildings are Dryden Elementary, Greenbrier Elementary, Olive-Mary Stitt Elementary, Patton Elementary, Westgate Elementary, and Windsor Elementary.

Along with the expansion projects, the District is planning on tackling various building improvement projects (capital projects) on every one of the District’s buildings. Keep up to date with the progress of all the projects below.

  • LATEST BIG PICTURE PROGRESS

    • Fall 2024 -
The District hosted 6 ribbon cutting ceremonies for each building that had #Build25 expansion projects. Full Day Kindergarten began.
    • Summer 2024

The Build25 program is nearing completion, supporting full-day kindergarten across Arlington Heights School District 25 for the first time this fall. Expansions at Dryden, Greenbrier, Olive-Mary Stitt, Patton, Westgate, and Windsor have added 25 classrooms, two gym expansions, one new gym, numerous support spaces and other infrastructure improvements.

These new spaces will open this fall, and we are incredibly grateful for the continued support and hard work of all our Facilities Management staff. Their dedication has been instrumental in making these projects a success. Thank you for helping us enhance our district’s facilities for our students and staff!

    • Winter 2024 - Even though the weather is colder, there is still so much happening in the #Build25 effort. The roofing structure has been installed for Dryden's classroom expansion, interior finishes are almost complete at Olive-Mary Stitt, site preparations are underway at Patton, and the structure is complete for Westgate's new gym. Foundations at Greenbrier and Windsor are substantially complete and ready for exterior walls and the building structure to commence in the Spring of 2024.
    • Fall 2023 - All six expansion projects are now underway. Structure is going up at Olive-Mary Stitt for its classroom expansion, Foundational work has begun at Patton, excavation has begun at Greenbrier, the construction fence has been installed at Windsor, site preparations are underway at Westgate, and foundation work is underway at Dryden. All of the schools listed (6) will get additional classrooms, while Patton and Westgate will get a new gym and Dryden's gym will be expanded.
    • Summer 2023 - District 25 is working on a number of projects across the District. Every school and the District Administration Building will see a project that will improve their aging facilities. Olive-Mary Stitt Elementary is the only building in the District at this point that has expansion work underway to house District-wide Full Day Kindergarten beginning August 2024.
    • June 13, 2023 - The District 25 Board approved a motion that awarded bid packages related to the #Build25 projects. These packages will cover the scope of work at Greenbrier and Windsor related to the kindergarten additions as well as updates, repairs, and renovations (capital improvement projects) to the existing buildings listed.

    • September 13, 2022 - Dr. Bein updated the Board of Education on the progress related to the Full Day Kindergarten programming expected to open in August 2024. This is something Dr. Bein and District 25 Administrators plan to do regularly.  For a PDF of this presentation, click here.
The update covered the following topics:
      1. Bond Sale Update
      2. Classroom information - Confirmed number of classrooms needed is 25
      3. Architectural plans - Slight changes to Olive & Westgate
      4. Construction Status Update
    • August 23, 2022 - The Board approved the issuance of not to exceed $62 million in bonds. The reason for the initial sale of $62 million is because some investors may want discount bonds. This will result in $60 million in bond proceeds. The District projects that the remainder of the $75 million in bonds approved through the referendum will be sold in 2025 when needed.

  • DISTRICT 25'S REFERENDUM RECAP

The District had a referendum question on the June 28, 2022 ballot asking Arlington Heights for permission to sell up to $75 million in bonds to support building additions for a full day kindergarten program beginning August 2024, as well as address capital project needs throughout District 25’s facilities for future generations of learners.

The referendum passed and the District remains committed to ensuring this project is responsibly completed on time and on budget.

The District is proud to be 1 of only 91 Districts nation-wide with a Triple A bond rating.

What will the $75 million of bond sales fund?
