• Technology and Devices During Remote Learning


    Please know that a district employee will never visit your home to retrieve a chromebook. If you need to return a chromebook or need to have one repaired, please bring the device to your child’s school. The main office and IT Department will assist you. If you are ever in doubt, you can always contact the district or child's school for information.

      Student Device Responsibilities

      • Student Device Responsibilities During Remote Learning


        During remote learning, District 25 students are being provided a device to assist while learning away from the school.. Arlington Heights School District 25 (AHSD25) is not responsible for any loss or damage done to the device while in possession of the student. The student and parent/guardian are responsible for maintaining any technology device provided by the school district as indicated in the school technology inventory. If loss or damage occurs, the student and parent or guardian may be responsible for the repair or replacement of the device (please see optional insurance information). If the technology has a failure of an internal part, it is covered by a warranty and will be repaired at no cost by Arlington Heights School District 25. Please contact your teacher in the cases of needing a repair and they will assist with that process.

        1. Student use must adhere to  Acceptable Use Policy for Network Access, and the Responsible Use Guidelines. These documents apply to the use and care of the Student Device both at school and outside of school.
        2. Student technology supplied by AHSD25 is designated for use by the student only and will be used for instructional purposes, not for recreational or employment activities.
        3. Device use unrelated to the AHSD25 educational program (including but not limited to downloading of personal games or music and installing additional applications) is prohibited.
        4. AHSD25 has the right to recall and review the contents of the student device at any time including any personal information that may be stored on or accessible by the device.
        5. Modifying or changing device settings and /or internal or external configurations without appropriate permission is prohibited.
        6. Student technology devices have the same district Internet content filtering services whether they are used at school or at home. However, no filter is 100% perfect so arents/guardians are still responsible for monitoring their students’ use including configuring home filtering options as needed.
        7. If student technology is damaged it must be reported to the teacher or school officials as soon as possible to coordinate repairs. If technology is stolen, you will file a police report in addition to notifying the school.
        8. Student technology must be returned as designated by the teacher, school or district schedule and in the same condition as it was provided by the district.
        9. Failure to return issued technology or unpaid fines/repairs may result in the school putting a hold on student records or further disciplinary action.
        Potential Costs
        • OPTIONAL Student Device Insurance - $15 (waiver) $25 deductible
        • Lost, non-repairable or stolen iPad - $350.00
        • Lost, non-repairable or stolen Chromebook - $333.00
        • Lost or broken AC adapter/charger - $50.00
        • Other repairs from misuse - $TBD case-by-case

      • This page provides links and resources for families about the devices and platforms that we will be using for remote learning. Every classroom is going to be a little different but the hope is this page is a great place to start if parents, guardians, or students feel they need support on the different platforms our District is using during Remote Learning 20-21.



        Video conferencing takes a tremendous amount of resources for computers. Adding on additional monitors, screen sharing etc. only increases that and builds over the course of a day with multiple conferences.


        Please restart your device and encourage your students as well (especially Chromebooks) during the day, an off period or each morning/evening. This helps to reset the computer usage and make it available for the next set of tasks. You can also improve performance by limiting the amount of tabs and windows open at the same time as they are constantly reloading in the background.


        Most devices were not built to video conference for many consecutive hours over the day so these steps can help reset and hopefully improve the experience each and every day.
